Celebrating our Impactful and Inspirational Partnerships
For years, Reach for Resources has partnered with local high schools and community groups like the National Charity League (NCL), offering students and families meaningful ways to make a difference. These partnerships with schools like DeLaSalle in Minneapolis and Benilde-St. Margaret’s in St. Louis Park have been instrumental, not only in strengthening our community ties but also in enriching our initiatives with diverse perspectives.
These partnerships have created invaluable experiences for volunteers to make a difference in their community, gain new skills, and build lasting connections. Additionally, these relationships foster long-term connections, allowing students to remain engaged with our mission as they transition into adulthood. We deeply appreciate our dedicated partners and volunteers for their commitment and are excited to continue making a positive impact together.
One student from Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Katie Kroft, was especially inspired to join our volunteer program this past fall. After learning about Reach in her Theology class, which highlights local service opportunities, she reached out, eager to get involved. Katie’s first experience was with one of our fall craft programs, and from that day, she felt an immediate connection. Reach matched her desire to make a difference, and each shift reinforced her belief in the importance of community service, for herself and for the people around her.
Katie found the experience surprisingly fun and was moved by how warmly she was welcomed by everyone at Reach. Over time, she built friendships with other volunteers, learning more about the community she was helping and feeling the deeper connections that come from shared service. Each activity reminded Katie that volunteering not only benefits others but also enriches her own life.
Of course, balancing volunteer shifts with a busy student schedule hasn’t been easy. Katie’s encountered her fair share of scheduling conflicts and has learned a lot about time management along the way. She’s developed practical skills like organization as she coordinated activities with fellow volunteers. Most importantly, she’s seen her empathy and understanding grow as she navigated these challenges.
“Everyone should know how good they have it,” Katie says, recognizing the insights volunteering has brought her. Each shift brings lessons that deepen her commitment to her community and reinforce the values she holds dear. For her, volunteering is more than just giving back; it’s about connection, learning, and the joy of working alongside others. Through her service, she’s discovered that making a difference isn’t just about what you give but what you gain: a new outlook, a community of friends, and a stronger bond with the world around you.
