“There’s a place for everyone at Reach, and the impact you make is worth it.”

As a seasoned professional nearing retirement, David Brown first became involved with Reach for Resources in December 2023. With a passion for giving back and a personal connection to the organization through his nephew, David saw volunteering as the perfect way to make meaningful use of his newfound free time. “My workload now allows me several mornings a week to volunteer,” he shares. Since then, David has generously contributed over 200 hours of his time to support Reach’s Finance and Administration departments.

David’s commitment to Reach quickly became a two-way street. Not long after he began volunteering, he experienced an unexpected gesture of kindness that left a lasting impression. “One of my favorite moments was receiving a care package filled with good food to help me through surgery and recovery. I had only been volunteering for a few months—it was such a thoughtful and unexpected act.”

Four times a month, David brings his expertise as a CPA and dedication to the Reach office, helping ease the financial and administrative workload for the staff. His skills have proven invaluable, particularly for tasks that require attention to detail and organizational finesse. He’s also an active participant in events like the annual Reach Golf Tournament, where he enjoys building connections within the community.

Beyond his volunteer duties, David has gained a new appreciation for the administrative complexity involved in delivering Reach’s valuable services. “I was familiar with many nonprofits before, but volunteering at Reach opened my eyes to just how much effort goes into ensuring things run smoothly,” he explains.

For David, one of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering is knowing that his skills directly benefit the organization. “It feels good to complete the projects and tasks given to me, knowing that my talents serve and support Reach.”

When asked what advice he would give to potential volunteers, David encourages others to jump in with confidence. “There’s a place for everyone at Reach, and the impact you make is worth it.”

David looks forward to continuing his volunteer journey with Reach, motivated by the meaningful connections he’s built and the chance to make a positive difference. “I look forward to each opportunity to work at the office, knowing I can use my talents to help ease the workload of Reach staff.”

At Reach, we recognize the incredible value that volunteers like David bring to our organization. We are deeply committed to fostering an environment where volunteers feel appreciated, empowered, and supported. Whether through thoughtful gestures, meaningful projects, or opportunities to connect with the community, we aim to ensure that our volunteers thrive and find fulfillment in their service.

Thank you, David, for your dedication and for being an inspiring part of the Reach community!
