Meghan’s Journey: A Volunteer Spotlight

Meghan’s Journey: A Volunteer Spotlight at Reach for Resources.

Meghan’s path to volunteering began with a strong desire to contribute to the meaningful work happening at Reach. After becoming a new twin mom and stepping back from her full-time career, she was looking for a way to stay engaged in purpose-driven work, continue growing professionally, and do so in a flexible, mission-aligned environment. Deeply committed to helping others live full, empowered lives, Meghan found herself naturally drawn to Reach’s mission.

As a Development Assistant Volunteer, Meghan plays a key role in supporting the development team. She researches and identifies potential funders, drafts grant applications and reports, writes letters of interest, and explores partnership opportunities with organizations that align with Reach’s goals. One standout moment in her volunteer work was connecting a family foundation to Reach, an introduction that led to a generous grant and made a meaningful impact on the community.

Though Meghan has spent her career in the nonprofit and public sectors, volunteering at Reach has given her a unique opportunity to focus specifically on development and grant writing. She has gained new skills and confidence in this area while making a tangible difference for an organization she cares about.

Like many volunteers, Meghan has to juggle competing demands on her time. She manages this by creating a realistic schedule and planning ahead. Volunteering is something she adds to her calendar and makes a consistent priority. She appreciates how flexible and supportive Reach is, which helps make her volunteer role sustainable and rewarding.

A particular highlight for Meghan has been working closely with Executive Director Kate Bottiger. Kate’s support and encouragement have made the experience even more meaningful, and Meghan is grateful for the connection they have built.

To anyone considering volunteering, Meghan encourages having a conversation with the organization. Sharing your goals, skills, and availability can lead to a great match. As for her own future, she hopes to continue contributing to Reach’s mission and development work, gain new experiences, grow both personally and professionally, and most importantly, keep making a difference while enjoying the journey.
