Everyone goes through challenging situations in life. Some situations you work through on your own. Sometimes, in a challenging situation, you might need a little extra support and guidance. That might be a time to consider therapy. Some people ask “isn’t therapy for crazy people?” In fact, most therapy clients are ordinary people struggling with common, every day issues.
There are many reasons to go to therapy including coping with stress, relationships, grief and loss, personal growth, family issues, and to manage the stress of daily life. Depression and anxiety are often issues that bring people into therapy. Therapy can offer a fresh perspective or clarity on a difficult problem and can point you in a new direction.
The benefits of therapy are many, depending how much you use the process and how much you practice what you learn. Some of the benefits of therapy include:
- Improving self -esteem, building self-confidence and an overall better understanding of yourself
- Developing skills to improve your relationships
- Learning new ways to cope with stress and anxiety
- Improving communications and listening skills
- Managing anger, depression, grief and other emotions
- Changing old behavior patterns and developing new ones.
