Your donation helps us provide essential inclusion services so that children, teens, and adults with disabilities can participate fully in local city park and recreation programs alongside their peers, building independence, confidence, and social connections. Every dollar you give directly impacts inclusion in your community. Thanks to the generous matching support from Suzanne Boda and George Grindahl, all donations up to $5,000 will be doubled!
Beth, like any parent, had her worries about her 7-year-old son’s ability to join in with other kids in the Three Rivers Park summer nature programs. Her son, who is on the autism spectrum and often struggles with anxiety and reactivity, had never been in such a setting before. Wanting him to have this opportunity, she decided to reach out to our inclusion services for guidance.
Over the summer, she watched her son become more comfortable, thanks to the steady support of a Reach staff member who provided one-on-one assistance while gently encouraging him to connect with the group. Beth felt reassured seeing other children receiving similar support, creating a community where everyone felt welcomed.
By the end of camp, a nature center staff member personally thanked Beth for including Reach’s inclusion services, noting her son’s remarkable growth in confidence and independence. Grateful she made that initial call, Beth found peace in watching her son thrive and connect with his peers.
